The decision to learn, grow, collaborate, and become part of something bigger than yourself.
That is what the BCC 2026 Cohort represents.
This year’s cohort brings together creators from different backgrounds, disciplines, and levels of experience. Some are just beginning their creative journey. Others have been creating for years and are looking for a community that will challenge them, support them, and help them grow.
At Benin Creators Community (BCC), we believe that creativity flourishes in community. Great ideas rarely exist in isolation. They are shaped through conversations, collaboration, feedback, and shared experiences.
That belief is the foundation of the BCC Cohort experience.
Over the coming months, cohort members will participate in learning sessions, community discussions, creative challenges, networking opportunities, and collaborative experiences designed to help them become better creators.
But before all of that begins, we are gathering for a special onboarding session to officially welcome our newest members.
And we’re excited to announce that filmmaker, storyteller, and creative community builder July King will be joining us as our special guest.
Why July King?
The creative industry is filled with people who talk about creativity.
July King is someone who actively lives it.
As a filmmaker and storyteller, he understands the realities of building creative work from the ground up. His journey reflects many of the challenges creators face today: finding opportunities, developing skills, building meaningful relationships, staying consistent, and continuing to create even when the path isn’t always clear.
What makes his story particularly valuable is that it goes beyond individual success.
Throughout his career, July King has demonstrated a commitment to community, collaboration, and helping creatives find spaces where they can grow. His work reflects the belief that creativity becomes more powerful when people build together rather than alone.
For creators entering the BCC Cohort, those lessons are incredibly important.
The creative industry is constantly evolving. New platforms emerge. Audiences change. Opportunities shift. While technical skills matter, long-term growth often depends on relationships, adaptability, and the ability to learn continuously.
These are conversations we look forward to exploring during the session.
More Than an Introduction
This onboarding session is more than a welcome meeting.
It is the first step in what we hope will be a transformative experience for every member of the cohort.
We want participants to leave the session with a clearer understanding of what BCC represents and how they can make the most of the opportunities ahead.
We want them to meet fellow creators who may become collaborators, accountability partners, and friends.
We want them to understand that growth does not happen overnight but that progress becomes easier when you’re surrounded by people who are moving in the same direction.
And through our conversation with July King, we want them to hear firsthand what it looks like to build a creative career with intention, resilience, and purpose.
